What a Day on DeKalb
It Felt Great!

Nearly 74,000 of you joined us in reclaiming DeKalb Avenue and Decatur Street as public space last Sunday. What a vision it was to see this important east-west corridor buzzing with activity and filled with people -- of all ages -- walking, biking, skating, jogging, playing and connecting with each other.
From the opening program and kickoff parade to the winding down of the activity-filled day, City officials, neighborhood and community leaders, our sponsors, volunteers, Activity and Placemaking Partners and Route Hosts, and -- most of all -- you made the streets come to life. Thank you for demonstrating what our city streets can be!
Speaking of people-focused city streets, many of you shared how you typically experience DeKalb Avenue and what you envision as a safe, accessible future for this important east-west corridor.
There's still time to share your commitment to a safe, accessible and appealing DeKalb Avenue with your social media networks at the exact same moment as dozens of other supporters. Join our group post that will hit Facebook and Twitter this evening at 6:30 pm.
Whether you're a resident of one of the nine neighborhoods connected by this route, a community organizer, a business owner or simply a believer in the impact Atlanta Streets Alive can have on how we interact with our city streets, here are some ways you can get involved in the upcoming Westside route:
Visit AtlantaStreetsAlive.com/hostactivity to learn more about hosting an activity. Sunday, May 20 is the last day of registration for the following opportunities, so register now!
Have you heard? The 2018 Atlanta Streets Alive t-shirts were designed bynone other than Atlanta’s own BlackCatTips!
You'll find them at both of our two tent locations on the Westside route. A $35 donation gets you this exclusive tee + an Atlanta Bicycle Coalition membership.
We’ve got kids sizes too!
Both adult and kids special edition t-shirts are only available at this year’s Atlanta Streets Alive routes! If you missed the chance to scoop one up last Sunday, come see us right after the kickoff parade on June 10 to get yours.
Sun, Apr 22: Music in the Park -- and the Streets
No need to wait until June to feel those care-free, car-free vibes. We're absolutely thrilled to have partnered with Music in the Park organizers, including our friend Kebbi Williams, to support the addition of an open street component to the event.
That's right, the eighth annual Music in the Park will extend to connect the Westside Trail and Gordon-White Park to Lee Street in Atlanta's Historic West End along Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard. Music in the Park will "take it to the streets" on Sunday, April 22.
